5 Carramore tombs is located in Ransboro,Co.Sligo in the North West of Ireland.

6 Carramore tombs are famous because the tombs there are up to 5000-5800 years old. People carried out the tradition of tradition of burying their dead here for 400-500 years. They travelled from all over Ireland with their loved ones’ remains 2 or 3 times a year.

7 The tombs are as old if not older than the Egyptian Pyramids. The central monument of Listoghill has been dated to 3600 BC! According to Petrie in the 1800s.

8 5 supporting 1 cap stone. The stones are made of gneiss and it shines because of the quarts. Gneiss is found in the Ox mountains gneiss is a metamorphic stone. There are 30 tombs facing the centre.

9 A lot of our ancestors are buried there and there are three ways of burying people: 1. people are burned and crushed before burying 2.people are left to decay before buried 3.people are skinned before buried

10 There are 30 tombs facing the central tomb. The people were sun worshipers. Each peak on each mountain surrounding the site has a tomb on it. Carromore is a bronze age site.

11 Legend tells us that the ‘Witch of Winter’ was flying across Carromore on her broom and dropped all the stones out from her apron. Scientifically glaciers went over Carromore and dropped all the stones.
