8 Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) Fall of Napoleon Napoleon went into exile after the Russian defeat Reappeared in March of 1815 to briefly take over France again He was finally defeated at the Battle of Waterloo in June 1815 He was imprisoned on Elba, a remote island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, where he died in 1821
