GIVE MAXIMUM EFFORT OUR GOAL IS TO BE THE HARDEST WORKING TEAM IN DISTRICT 15-6A IN PRACTICE AND GAMES. CONSEQUENCE IF WE DON’T GIVE MAXIMUM EFFORT IN PRACTICE WE WILL HAVE ADDITIONAL CONDITIONING. IF WE DON’T GIVE MAXIMUM EFFORT IN GAMES WE WON’T BE SUCCESSFUL IN THAT GAME.

WE WILL HAVE AN INITIAL ROUND OF CUTS PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF BASKETBALL SEASON. OUR FINAL ROUND OF CUTS WILL NOT BE UNTIL FOOTBALL SEASON IS OVER. THERE MAY BE KIDS THAT GET CUT AFTER FOOTBALL SEASON IS OVER. ONCE WE MAKE FINAL CUTS WE WILL DECIDE WHAT TEAM EACH PLAYER IS ON. CUTS AND WHAT TEAM EACH PLAYER IS ON IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE COACHING STAFF

TUTORIALS WILL BE MANDATORY FOR SOME STUDENT ATHLETES THAT DON’T KEEP THEIR GRADES HIGH ENOUGH. TUTORIALS ARE TO GET EXTRA HELP ON TOPICS AND SUBJECT MATTER THAT YOU ARE NOT GRASPING DURING THE CLASS PERIOD. TUTORIALS ARE NOT FOR COMPLETING ASSIGNMENTS OR PROJECTS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE AT HOME OR DURING CLASS. DURING THE TYPICAL WEEK OUR (JV/VARSITY) PLAYERS WILL HAVE THREE OR FOUR OPPORTUNITIES AND (SOPH/9A/9B) WILL HAVE TWO TO THREE TO ATTEND AFTER SCHOOL TUTORIALS FOR ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTION FROM THEIR TEACHER. ACADEMICS ARE OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY, BUT WE DON’T WANT PLAYERS MISSING PRACTICE BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT TAKING CARE OF THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE CLASSROOM OR AT HOME.

WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT ALL OF OUR PARENTS, PLAYERS AND COACHES ARE ON THE SAME PAGE. MIXED MESSAGES FROM COACHES AND PARENTS COULD CAUSE PLAYERS TO PERFORM LOWER THAN THEIR ABILITY BECAUSE THEY WANT TO PLEASE ALL PARTIES. WE DEFINITELY APPRECIATE ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT IN THIS MATTER.

ALL PLAYERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO RIDE THE BUS HOME FROM AWAY GAMES. IN THE CASE OF AN EMERGENCY PLAYERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO RIDE HOME WITH THEIR PARENT/GUARDIAN IF THEY HAVE FOLLOWED THE PROPER PROCEDURES. PLAYERS WILL ONLY BE RELEASED IF THEY HAVE FILLED OUT A TRAVEL RELEASE FORM AND TURNED IT IN TO THEIR COACH DURING THE ATHLETIC PERIOD THE DAY OF THE GAME. NO PLAYERS WILL BE RELEASED TO ANYONE ELSE’S PARENT/GUARDIAN. 9B/SOPH PLAYERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE AFTER THEIR GAME. 9A/JV PLAYERS WILL STAY THROUGH THE VARSITY GAME AND SIGN OUT AFTER ALL HOME GAMES. THEY WILL RIDE HOME WITH VARSITY FOR ALL AWAY GAMES.

ANY STUDENT ATHLETE THAT WILL NOT BE AT PRACTICE WILL BE REQUIRED TO CONTACT ONE OF THEIR COACHES DIRECTLY BEFORE PRACTICE. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO SEND WORD WITH A TEAMMATE. COACHES CONTACTS CAN BE FOUND ON THE PREVIOUS SLIDES AND ON OUR WEBSITE FAILURE TO ATTEND PRACTICE COULD EFFECT THEIR PLAYING TIME IN THE NEXT GAME. ANY PLAYER THAT HAS AN UNEXCUSED ABSENCE WILL ALSO BE REQUIRED TO INITIAL THEIR DISCIPLINE LOG. REPEATED UNEXCUSED ABSENCES WILL RESULT IN REMOVAL FROM THE PROGRAM.

DO IT!! ALL ATHLETES ARE ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY SPORT THEY ARE ABLE TO MAKE AT KLEIN OAK HIGH SCHOOL. ANYONE PARTICIPATING IN BASKETBALL WILL BE GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY TO TRY OUT FOR ANY SPORT AFTER THE COMPLETION OF OUR SEASON.
