5  Impacts:  Assimilated as low paid laborers and servants  Not allowed to continue Aboriginal traditions or culture  Less likely to gain secondary education  3x likely to have acquired a police record  2x as likely to use drugs  Unemployment, crime, and alcoholism are higher in Aboriginal communities today  Life expectancy- 17 years shorter than other Australians  Not granted citizenship until 1967  Some believe this was an attempted genocide  Aborigines would die out STOLEN GENERATION
