Administration - Build strong relationships (family). - Keep asking. - Exchange visits. Teachers - Be friendly & firm. -Characteristics - Learning styles & strategies. - Family background. - Class rules Students

6 Planning & Preparation Why planning ?  Know beforehand what has to be done.  Keep the teacher ready.  Finish the units in time.  Make teaching effective.  Help getting through all the materials.  Help continuity.  Help anyone take over a class temporarily.

7  Types of plans : 1. Yearly plan. 2. Semester plan (scheme of work). 3. Weekly plan. 4. Daily lesson plan. 5. A plan for outstanding students. 6. Remedial plan.

8 Lesson Plan  What are the lesson plan components ?

9 Lesson Plan Components  Basic information (day, date, unit, lesson no,...).  Objectives (SMART).  Stages (systematic).  Timings.  Aids/materials.  Anticipated problems/solutions.  Vocabulary.  Reflection.

10 Lesson Plan (things to consider)  Written & mental preparation.  Daily.  Well-organized & well-written.  Brief/in details.  Not finished on time.  Spelling.  Use Teacher’s book as a guide.  Never to forget your preparation book.  ……

11  Warm-up.  Presentation.  Practice.  Production.  Evaluation.  Homework.  Reflection.

12  What is it ?  Why ?  How ?  When ?

13  Focus on teaching or learning ?  Focus on 4 skills; grammar & vocabulary.  Various techniques/methods, why ?  Instructional aids/materials (book, board, note book,..etc).  Body language.  Reduce TTT & increase PTT.  Timing.

14  Pupils’ involvement/participation.  Individual, pair & group work.  Types of questions.  Elicitation techniques.  Correction techniques.  Reinforcement.

15 Lesson Stages (Production)  The teacher asks some questions;  Or ask students to do some tasks, why ?  What are the productive skills ?  What should you do if the students cannot answer your questions or do the tasks ?
