How to gain NCEA Level 1 – 80 credits at level 1 or above 10 credits Literacy and 10 credits Numeracy Level 2 – 60 credits at level 2 or above, plus 20 credits at level 1 or above 10 credits Literacy and 10 credits Numeracy Level 3 – 60 credits at level 3 or above, plus 20 credits at level 2 or above 10 credits Literacy and 10 credits Numeracy

University Entrance A second qualification at Level 3 is University Entrance You need Level 3 NCEA 14 credits in 3 subjects 10 Literacy credits at Level 2 or higher – 5 reading/5 writing 10 Numeracy credits at Level 1 or higher

Endorsements Level endorsement Excellence – 50 credits at excellence Merit – 50 credits at merit or excellence Subject endorsement Excellence – 14 credits at excellence Merit – 14 credits at merit or higher

Internals/Externals Internals Done during the year organised by teachers in the school. Each subject is different – at the beginning of the year you will be given a copy with the standards you will cover, number of credits how they are assessed when they will be assessed If there is a re-assessment opportunity

Externals National exams sat in November for most subjects Exceptions Arts, DVCO, TECH – you have a board/portfolio that is your external Maths – there is an algebra paper that is sat in September
