Inductive Reasoning 1-2A What do you think are basic geometry figures?
2
What is a point? What is a line? What is a line segment? What is a point of intersection? What does collinear mean?
3
On the back of your assignment paper--- Draw a line XY Add points M and N to your drawing so that M is on XY and N is not on XY. Name all of the segments that are determined by the labeled points on XY.
4
Get the point 1.Draw a line. Draw points A and B on the line. How many different segments are determined by points A and B? Name the segments. 2.Draw another line. Draw points A, B, and C on the line. How many segments are determined by points A, B, and C? Name them. 3.Can you find a pattern? Make a guess.
5
Making a guess When you are doing a science fair project, what do you call your guess? In geometry, a conjecture is like a hypothesis in science. A conjecture is a conclusion made from observing evidence. A conjecture may or may not be true.
6
What is inductive reasoning? Looking for a pattern in the date so you can make an educated guess about the formula. Geometry words: Inductive reasoning is the process of making a conjecture by looking at several specific examples and recognizing a pattern
