3 Federal Aviation Administration AAtS FY11 Demo Activities May 5 th, 2011 AAtS Overview Connect NAS services enabled by FAA’s System Wide Information Management (SWIM) to aircraft –Improve situational awareness for aircraft by facilitating dissemination of operational & supplementary NAS information via the SWIM based network –Only SWIM-enabled NAS services will be available via AAtS –Not intended for uses that will directly effect the trajectory of the aircraft Initial AAtS Concept –Will utilize existing NAS and aircraft infrastructure –The FAA will not be acquiring a specific infrastructure to support the deployment of AAtS. –Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) used to display NAS information in aircraft (e.g., Class II PED or iPad)
