2  Get Stunt Certified www.wscca.com/CheerConferences.html Required by ALL coaches who want to stunt at any time Focuses on stunting fundamentals, technique, timing, drills, perfection before progression  Fulfill Other District Requirements CPR/First Aid ACCAA if applicable  Meet with Former Coach or Other District Admin Program History Expectations of the Coach Limitations if any

3  Put together a Program Guide and/or a Tryout Packet Outline the following  Grade Requirements  Time Commitments  Financial Commitments  Behavior Expectations  Have clear, well defined policies in place before tryouts

4  Setting Up Tryouts Initial Tryout Meeting for Parents and Students Paperwork Needed Number of Clinic Days  What material will be taught Final Judging  Using a panel vs. coach pick Announcing Results  Deciding number of teams  Varsity, JV, C vs. Colors

5  Captains, Co-Captains, Squad Leaders How do you want to set up your leadership staff? How will you select captains? Squad Vote, Your Choice, Combination. Consider the following:  Peer Respect  Coach Respect  Academic Performance  Discipline Record  Reliability

6  Team Activities Set Goals Bonding Activities Start Teaching Sideline Material, Camp Material, Basic Stunting  Coach Activities Fill out all District Paperwork – PO’s, Fundraising Forms, Field Trip Forms (camp) Order Uniforms Sign Up for Camp Create a Daily Practice Plan

7  Cheering for Football, Basketball, Wrestling Getting the crowd involved  Supporting Other Sports Cross Country, Soccer, Swimming, Gymnastics, Track, Baseball, Softball  Half Time and Assembly Performances  Creating School Spirit Weekly Themes Game Night Themes Posters, Spirit Item Give Away  Working with the Community Crowd Involvement Planning Homecoming Spreading the Spirit

8  Establish Your Team Goals  Select a Division Tumbling vs. Non-Tumbling  Choreography and Music  Select WIAA State Approved Qualifiers List will be available beginning of August on www.wsssa.com/competition.html www.wsssa.com/competition.html  Evaluate Score Sheets each Week  WSCJA judges available to evaluate your routine

9  Banquet or Celebration Night Variety of forms from formal to fun Senior Send Off  Evaluation From the Cheerleaders Viewpoint and Yours What worked? What didn’t?  Planning for Next Year
