CIRCUMFERENCE The circumference of a circle is the distance around the outside, just as the perimeter of a polygon is the distance around the outside. Circumference is the perimeter for a circle. The radius of a circle is the distance from the center of the circle to the circle itself (the edge of the circle) Denoted by the letter r. The diameter of a circle is the distance from one side of the circle to the other, through the center. Denote by the letter d.
