When soil, rocks, and minerals change physical or chemical processes. Depending on soil- forming factors, weathering can proceed rapidly.

Parent material- Made of rocks and minerals. When all of the four other soil forming factors, it is weathered into smaller particles forming soil. Climate- Temperatures affect how soil is formed. Living organisms- Most abundant living thing in soil. Topography- Variations affect moisture and temperature. Time- Soil ages and heads towards equilibrium.

Erosion is the movement of rocks and minerals by agents such as: water, ice, snow, wind, waves and gravity. Erosion happens more quickly on bare rocks because of it being unprotected by soil. There are 3 types of erosion: Coastal, Glacial, and Wind.
