Turn to Page 52 Look at Example 1. Can you create your own way to solve this problem? HINT: Minutes can become hours by putting it over 60 minutes!

Example 1: Izzy  2¼ miles = 9/4 15/60 hour = 1/4 When you divide 9/4 by 1/4 you get 9! Julia  3 3/4 miles = 15/4 25/60 hour = 5/12 When you divide 15/4 by 5/12 you get 9! ANSWER: Both girls are EQUAL. Their unit rate was 9 miles / hour.

PRACTICE Complete Exercises 1, 2, & 3

Turn to Page 54 We will complete #’s 4 & 5 together

HOMEWORK Pg. 54 # 1,2, & 3

Take out your home Pg. 54 # 1,2, & 3 And discuss your answers with your shoulder partner. If you got something wrong, figure out why. If you can’t, we will discuss it as a class.

Turn to Pg. 58 Together we will do Example 1. FIRST find the constant rate (k). Remember: To find y we must multiply To find x we must divide

Turn to Pg. 59 We will do Example 2 together. We can use a tape diagram to help us: Order 1 – sausage = 1/4 Order 3 – pepperoni = 1/3

HOMEWORK Pg. 57 # 1 & 4 (create a table with flour as x and dinner rolls as y; use constants) Pg. 61 # 1

Wednesday 8/20 Lesson 14

Turn to Pg. 63 Together we will complete Ex. 1 & 2. Make sure to use tape diagrams to help explain your answers. Ex 1 A) = 30 B) = $22 Ex 2 = 21,999 10 11

Turn to Pg. 64 Together we are going to do Ex. 3 & 4 Ex 3: $2400+ 800 = $3200 $3200 – $640 = $2560 Profit  $2560 – $2400 = $160 profit! 640 800 640

Turn to Pg. 68-69 Complete Example 2

Turn to Pg. 71 Complete #’s 2 & 3 When you are finished, come to the front of the class to check your answers. If you got them both correct, begin your TEST REVIEW/HOMEWORK: Pg 56 # 1 Pg 60 # 1 Pg 61 # 2 Pg 66 # 6 & 7 Pg 70 # 1 Pg 72 # 4
