Physical characteristics Soil is poor and acidic due to the fallen pine needles from the trees The winters in the taiga are very cold with only snowfall. The summers are warm, rainy, and humid. In the summer temperature ranges from 20ºF-70ºF In the winter, -65ºF-30ºF The total precipitation in a year is 30 - 85 cm most of it is rain in the during the summer.

Major plant life Common Plants Douglas Fir Yellow Birch Black Willow Western Hemlock Mountain Alder Wild Garlic May Apple The Boreal Forest is a Coniferous forest. Most of the trees grow needles and cones instead of leaves and flowers.
