So far… The Basics: Handwriting Work presentation Basic knowledge for each subject Classroom rules including behavioural and academic expectations. Working towards a deadline. PE kits – Monday(outdoor) Thursday(indoor) Homework- Set on a Friday due in on a Wednesday 1:1 tuition and Monday lunchtime homework club.

Overview of Year 6 Consolidation of knowledge and skills with support and extension where needed. SATs! Preparation for Year 7. Equipping the children with life skills for the challenges ahead. Fostering independence, please help with this. Taking ownership and responsibility for their learning and organisation. Making wise choices. Lots of group work, developing presentation skills and speaking in front of an audience as well as working with others who have different learning styles.

Topics in Year 6 How has the past shaped Weston-super-Mare? What time is it? Can we live in Harmony? Is the world a fair place? How were we created? What is music? End of year production.

Mathematics Small group working with Mr Turner and the rest of the year group working with their own teacher. Mental maths skills, arithmetic skills, mathematical reasoning. Problem solving and transference of skills and knowledge. Maths fact book - essential basic knowledge that will also provide a revision tool for SATS.

Literacy Small group working with Miss Langston who are of a quieter nature during whole class lessons therefore a smaller environment. The rest working with their own teacher. Term One Book study: Street Child Victorians! Introducing Exciting Sentences (by Alan Peat) to develop sentence structure. Term Two Book Study: Day of the Assassins Time travel!

Worle – Tuesday 22 nd September 5.45 – 8.30pm – open evening Wednesday 23 rd, Thursday 24 th Friday 25 th September 9.00 – 12.00 open mornings Broadoak - Thursday 24 th September – 6.00 – 8.00 pm Churchill – Wednesday 30 th September – 6.00 – 9.00 pm – open evening Wednesday 23 rd and Thursday 24 th September 9.00 – 12.30 open morning Hans price – evening has happened but open mornings this week. Priory – evening has happened but you can arrange a morning to look around.
