B.C. – (Before Christ was born) 100,000 BC -> Civilization begins Hunters and Gatherers A.D. – (Anno Domini) In the year of our Lord. B.C.E. – (Before the Common Era) A.C.E. – (After the Common Era)

☼ Food/Water ☼ Shelter ☼ Clothing ☼ Love/Family People banded together to help achieve 4 basic needs:

Gatherers – found edible plants and berries, etc… Hunters – went out and got fish or meat for the band

The Stone Age This era is frequently referred to as the Stone Age because of people’s use of stone for tools and weapons.

On the Move □ Bands needed to relocate to replenish supplies. □ When food became scarce, migration occurred.

Every person had a specific role, based on their talents or skills, to help meet the needs of society. Meeting Their Needs As bands grew in number (50), a system of division of labor developed.

Culture Differences in language, ways of doing things, laws, art, religion, food, and clothing combine to form a culture. An organized group of people living under the same rules and laws is a society.
