1 Interested in SGA? You’re in luck! It’s time for elections for the 2010-2011 school year!

2 Executive Council Positions Available -SGA President -SGA Vice President -SGA Secretary -SGA Treasurer -HAB Chair -Academic Policy Board Chair -Appeal Board Chair -Honor Court Chair -Student Conduct Council Chair

3 Class Officer Positions Available Each of the following positions are open for the Classes of 2011, 2012, and 2013 for the 2010-2011 school year: -Class President -Class Vice President -Class Secretary -Class Treasurer -Two Class Senators

4 How Do I Run for a Position? 1.Each candidate must submit a written statement and give a speech. 2.In addition, each candidate may, but is not required to, submit no more than 12 flyers (maximum size of 8x11in) and 2 posters (no more than half the size of one standard piece of poster board. 3.Candidates will also be allowed to create one Facebook group after they have attended the Candidate Tea and signed the Candidacy agreement. 4.Candidates for Executive Council Positions must have a minimum of a 2.0 GPA

5 Important Election Dates Executive Council Elections –Statements and flyers due: Wednesday, March 17 by noon in the SGA Office –Mandatory Candidate Tea: Wednesday, March 17 at 4:45 in the Goodwin PDR –Speeches: Tuesday, March 30th immediately following Senate in Babcock –Elections: Wednesday, March 31st from 8:00am- 6:00pm. –Step Singing: Wednesday, March 31st at 7:30 pm, Steps of Cocke

6 Important Election Dates Continued Class Elections –Statements and flyers due: Friday, April 2nd by noon in the SGA Office –Mandatory Candidate Tea: Friday, April 2nd at 1:00 in Camp Younts –Speeches: Tuesday, April 6th immediately following Senate in Babcock –Elections: Wednesday, April 7th from 8:00am- 6:00pm in Moody Lobby –Step Singing: Wednesday, April 7th at 7:30 pm, Steps of Cocke

7 Election Rules No Verbal Campaigning within 10 feet of the polls on election day Candidates may not hang their own posters/flyers. No additional written campaign materials other than those specified will be allowed. –This includes, but is not limited to, emails, instant messages, facebook messages, writing on mirrors, white boards, etc. –Candidates may start ONE facebook group in support of their campaign. NO NEGATIVE CAMPAIGNING

8 I don’t want to run…but I want to VOTE! Voting is the most important way to ensure that your campus leaders represent YOU. The best way to make an informed vote: –Read candidate statements. These will be posted in the glass case in Moody Lobby. –Go to Speeches! Listen to what the candidates have to say and ask your questions.

9 VOTING Polls are located in Moody lobby For Executive Council Elections: WEDNESDAY, March 31 st. Polls open at 8:00 am and will close at 6:00 pm. For Class Officer Elections: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 7 th. Polls open at 8:00 am and will close at 6:00 pm.
