Cost scale for phase 2 o Cost scale for Phase 2 We had been planning to provide a cost scale for the RRB in October, however… there are requests to provide some early information for FAs. Joe asks us to have something by late March for the RRB in April – This will NOT be an EOI or LOI, but will be an update to the EOI that CMS submitted in 2007, with updated estimates for cost and time scales. – Proposing a very short document. With your input, UC and TC will make a skeleton version in next 2 weeks for discussion at next UPO. Goal is to provide a draft for MB/FB in 3 weeks! 5

June Upgrade Week Monday-Friday June 3-7 DESY, Hamburg Block timetable & travel information are on the web site. More details to follow. http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=236161 Registration is open today We need to book rooms for parallel sessions: – Please, send your request by end of next week (with estimate of number of participants) 6

Simulation studies in 2013 10 o We need to establish the metric of studies – software tools – MC samples… eg: -How and when can we merge Tracker and Calorimeter Straw men? in full sim or in fast sim with implementation of track reconstruction ? -What are the studies and samples needed for S1, S2 and S3 Input so far from TTI group: 2 x 15M min bias events + signal event including particle gun about 1M event at high pile-up with Straw men (1a) … Need planning, MC windows of opportunity summer 2013 and first half of 2014 o Discussion at XC meeting Feb. 8 -Re-define GED mandate including developments for upgrade studies -Create a Task Force to ensure proper tool developments for simulation studies see charge attached to the agenda for comments -GED and TF Mandates will be discussed at the EB next week -Following we will proceed identifying TF chairs and contributors, membership will include representative of Offline/Simulation, PPD, GED, selected POG and Upgrade Projects and WG, and Future Physics
