2 W HAT PUT ’ S SEX WORKERS AT RISK Sex work is work! Sex workers are faced with occupational risks these risks are exacerbated by: CRIMINALISATION HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS DISCRIMINATION These issues make sex workers vulnerable to HIV.

3 W HY MOBILISING IS IMPORTANT Sisonke has had to mobilise because of Police Brutality Police are violent toward sex workers Discrimination from health care providers Sex workers feel unsafe in clinics Discrimination from other service providers and communities Rape of sex worker by emergency personnel Sex workers home demolished in township

4 W HAT S ISONKE HAS DONE THROUGH M OBILISING Movement building helps sex workers to organise and address these risks Mobolising allows sex workers to be: Empowered to make their own decisions creates a sense of community where sex workers can feel safe and supported

5 W HAT YOU CAN DO WITH US Listen to sex workers: “nothing about us without us” We are experts on sex worker issues Allow us to share information with you
