5. Key features Code addresses requirements of legislation for example: Ionising Radiation Regulations 1999 (IRR99) Radioactive Substances Act 1993 (RSA93) Follows non-nuclear sector best practice for restricting exposure to ionising radiations to levels As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP)

Key points Formalises the appointment of: Radiation Protection Advisers (RPAs) Louise Nicholson DL ext. 3554 Paul Wright RAL ext. 5480; and Radiation Protection Supervisors (RPSs) Sets out: general arrangements for managing work with ionising radiation – most of which are already in place; and the need to consult with the RPA on radiation matters
