1 UNIVERSAL GRAVITATIONAL LAW of
NEWTON’S LAW of GRAVITATIONAL UNIVERSAL Two bodies attract each other with a force that is directly proportional to the square of the distance between them.

2 NEWTON’S LAW OF UNIVERSAL GRAVITATION
States that all objects in the universe attracts each other by the force of gravity.

3 The size of the force depends on the two(2) factors:
- The masses of the objects - The distance between them The force of gravity increases as the mass of object increases, Gravitational forces decreases as the distance between the objects increases.

5 KEPLER’S LAW of PLANETARY MOTION

6 Kepler's First Law (on orbits)
Every planet moves in an elliptical orbit, with the Sun at one focus.

7 Kepler's Second Law (on areas)
As a planet moves in its orbit a line drawn from the Sun to the Planet sweeps out equal areas in equal time intervals. See diagram below.

8 The line joining the two bodies (the sun and the revolving object) sweeps equal areas in equal times. The graphic precisely displays Kepler's second law. The area of every triangle formed is exactly the same area. Also notice as the planet or satellite moves closer to the sun, the speed of its orbit increases, but when it is located farther away from the sun, the speed in which the planet or satellite revolves around the sun is slower.

9 Kepler's Third Law (on periods)
The squares of the sidereal periods of the planets are proportional to the cubes of their semi major axis. p2 = a3

10 NEWTON’S LAWS OF MOTION

11 NEWTON’S LAWS OF MOTION
Law of Inertia – an object that is at rest or in motion stays at rest or in motion in a straight line unless acted by an outside force Law of Acceleration – the acceleration of an object is proportional to the force acting on the object. Law of Interaction – for every action, there is always an equal but opposite reaction.

12 EQUATION OF FINDING GRAVITATIONAL FORCE
If two objects have masses m1 & m2 and are separated by a distance r, then the gravitational force F between these two masses is G is a number called the universal constant of gravitational which has been determined from laboratory experiments.

13 Using his laws of gravity, Newton found out that he called mathematically by trial and error that p2 = a2. Newton demonstrated mathematically that this equation follows logically from his law of gravity anytime the two objects revolve about each other.
