Food Safety Research and Response Network $5 million awarded from the USDA. A multi-institutional, multi-disciplinary team of more than 50 food-safety researchers from 17 universities. Expertise includes all major pre-harvest food safety pathogens. Themes: 1) public health impact of pre-harvest food safety pathogens; 2) microbial ecology of pre-harvest food safety pathogens; 3) detection, surveillance and risk assessment of pre-harvest food-safety pathogens; and 4) cost-effective intervention strategies for pre-harvest food safety pathogens.
5
Center for Comparative Molecular Medicine Enhance collaborative, interdisciplinary approaches for the comparative study of molecular aspects of animal diseases. Support interactions between clinical and basic research groups within the CVM and the university by developing mechanisms that encourage and facilitate those interactions. Enhance research funding opportunities, increased access to unique animal resources, unique combinations of clinical/basic expertise, and access to valuable service core facilities. Provide clinical and research opportunities to graduate & veterinary students, clinical residents, and postdoctoral fellows. A central component for enhancing and accelerating the development of the Centennial Biomedical Campus.
