Step 2: Identify a Reminding Word Reminding words sound like or rhyme with all or part of the term

How do we give students the support they need to be successful? Scaffolding: I do it We do it Y’all do it You do it

Why does it work? Auditory focus on making semantic (meaning) connections between the most important semantic features of a new term’s definition, and semantic features of a common, well- known word that has similar phonetic features. Visual links provide students with a kind of mind map that also helps students remember the essential features of the meaning of new terms.
