Find the EXACT area. r = 12 feet
12
What is the formula for Surface Area of a Sphere
13
8 cm Surface Area of a Sphere (round to the nearest hundredths) SA=201.06 cm²
14
A sphere is inscribed in a cube of volume 125 cubic meters. What is the surface area of the sphere? Give an exact answer and an answer rounded to the nearest hundredth. SA=78.54 m²
15
What is the Volume of a Sphere
16
12 cm Volume of a Sphere (round to the nearest hundredths) V=603.19 cm³
17
Part 1: Volume of Prisms
18
What is volume?! Volume- The number of cubic units needed to Fill a space Volume is measured in cubic units (ex: in 3 )
19
To find the volume of any prism, you can use the formula V= Bh Where B is the area of the base, and h is the prism’s height. B depends on the shape!
20
The base of a RECTANGULAR prism is a rectangle so the base is: l x w To find the volume of a triangular prism, B is the area of the triangular base so the base is: ½ x b x h
21
V = lwh Write the formula. V = 29 12 16l = 29; w = 12; h = 16 Multiply.V = 5,568 in 3 16 in. 29 in. 12 in. #1 You Try! A=bh B= l x w
22
A rectangular prism with base length 6 ft, width 5 ft, and height 7 ft #2 You Try! A=bh B= l x w
23
V = BhWrite the formula. V = ( 3.9 1.3) 4 1 2 __ B = 3.9 1.3; h = 4. 1 2 __ Multiply.V = 10.14 m 3 #3 Try Together! A=bh B= ½ x b x h
24
The bases of a prism are always two congruent, parallel polygons. Caution!
25
V = BhWrite the formula. V = ( 6.5 7) 6 1 2 __ B = 6.5 7; h = 6. 1 2 __ Multiply.V = 136.5 ft 3 #4 You Try A=bh B= ½ x b x h
26
Part 1: Volume of a Cylinder
27
tttttttttttt
28
To find the volume of a cylinder, you can use the same method as you did for prisms: Multiply the area of the base by the height. volume of a cylinder = area of base height The area of the circular base is r 2, so the formula is V = Bh = r 2 h.
29
Write the formula. Replace with 3, r with 4, and h with 7. Multiply. V 336 V = r 2 h V 3 42 7V 3 42 7 The volume is about 336 ft 3.
30
10 cm ÷ 2 = 5 cmFind the radius.Write the formula. Replace with 3, r with 5, and h with 11. Multiply. V 825 V = r 2 h V 3 5 2 11 The volume is about 825 cm 3.
31
Multiply. V 540 The volume is about 540 ft 3. 6 ft 5 ft Write the formula. Replace with 3, r with 6, and h with 5. V = r 2 h V 3 62 5V 3 62 5
32
Multiply. V 288 8 cm ÷ 2 = 4 cm The volume is about 288 cm 3. Find the radius. 8 cm 6 cm Write the formula. Replace with 3, r with 4, and h with 16. V = r 2 h V 3 42 6V 3 42 6
