1 American Chemical Society 1 MPPG Multidisciplinary Program Planning Group Vision: Enable plenary and technical programming reflective of the evolving multidisciplinary approach to advanced chemical research Mission: Facilitates the identification and selection of the theme, implementation of multidisciplinary thematic programming, identifies the theme organizer, fosters and supports collaboration among the programming groups to provide a focus to the National Meeting

2 What is MPPG? Group composed of representatives of all Divisions, plus the Committees most impacted by multidisciplinary programming: i.e., DAC, ComSci, M&E. Representatives appointed to MPPG by Division – Committee leadership Local Section representatives of future venues Executive Committee composed of present and 2 past MPPG Chairs and Chair elect, MPPG Subcommittee Chairs, At-Large Representative(s) as well as representatives of DAC, M&E and ComSci.

3 Roles and Responsibilities of MPPG Representatives Drive the selection of National Meeting themes Identify specific theme organizers with input from Divisions, members, and experts in the thematic field Key communication link to respective Division – Committee – Local Sections

4 Roles and Responsibilities of the MPPG ExCom Oversee the timeline for meetings, with theme selection to occur 36 months prior to meeting Identification of the Theme Organizer at least 2 years prior to the meeting Oversee development of the program to ensure progress Communication with Divisions, Committees, Local Sections, members, and governance Manage the selection of Kavli Emerging Lecturer for each National Meeting

5 How does MPPG operate? Meets Saturday prior to each National Meeting Chairs appoint representatives (up to 2) for their Division/Committee/Local Section Operates as a DAC Subcommittee Identifies future themes and theme organizers from the Society and beyond Collaborates with the ACS President-Elect to encourage theme continuity with Presidential programming

7 Assign your Representative(s) Participate actively through your reps in selecting themes, theme chairs, programming within themes. Participate actively in improving national meetings; propose ideas & experiments. Collaborate with other Divisions, Local Section and Committees within and outside of thematic programs. MPPG is your Committee!
