Sand dunes, Canyons and Deltas
5th grade Science
2
What is a delta? an area at the end of a river where sediments are deposited and build up
3
How are deltas formed? Weathering Erosion Deposition
4
How are deltas formed? When a river reaches a lake or sea, the water slows down The sediments are then dropped at the *mouth of the river. When ocean waves cannot carry the sediments out to the ocean, a delta is formed.
5
Where can you find a delta?
At the mouth of a river The mouth of a river is where a river meets the ocean.
6
What shape is this delta?
7
How is a delta formed? Deposition by water
8
What is a Sand dune A hill of sand piled up by the wind

How is a sand dune formed?
Weathering Erosion Deposition
10
How is a sand dune formed?
Dunes may form wherever there is a lot of loose sand and enough wind to move it.
11
Where can you find a sand dune?
Beaches and deserts are common places for dunes.
12
Which way was the wind blowing from?
