ABOUT THE SCHOOL CU’s first home (Trinity church schoolhouse) was founded in 1754 as King's College by royal charter of King George II of England. It is the oldest institution of higher learning in the state of New York and the fifth oldest in the U.S. The college reopened as Columbia in 1784 after being shut down during the American Revolution.

LOCATION This urban private university is located in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, one of the boroughs of New York City.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL The public university was founded in 1905 In 1908, the first students attended the college. In 1914, the first female students arrived at the campus from UC Berkley.

COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY VS UC DAVIS DIFFERENCES Columbia University and UC Davis are both environmentally friendly schools. Students can have one-on- one relationships with their professors. Although, UCD’s acceptance rate is much larger than CU’s, they are both selective schools. UC Davis and Columbi aUniversity are on opposite ends of the United States. UCD is a public school and CU is a private school. The acceptance rate of UCD is greater than CU’s. The amount of students in classes CU is less than the amount in UCD classes.
