2 A fact is a statement that can be proven correct (or incorrect).

4 Opinion An opinion is what someone thinks, feels, or believes. It cannot be proven. You can only agree or disagree with it.

5 Clue Words When trying to decide if a statement is a fact or an opinion, look for clue words that might signal an opinion.
