In “The Hare and the Tortoise,” we learned that being the fastest runner doesn’t mean you will always win the race. In that story the author had a purpose, or reason, for writing the story. The purpose of “The Hare and the Tortoise” was to teach us that working very hard and never giving up will help us do well in school and in life. Sometimes looking for the author’s purpose in a story will help us comprehend the story better.
