OCTOBER 12 TH, 2015 STEPS TO GRADUATION

2 ADVISING: REQUIREMENTS Major/ Core Requirements 124 semester units – 40 upper division units 24 of the last 30 units completed at VU Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 In order to participate in commencement you can’t have more than 4 units outstanding (to be completed by end of summer term).

4 REGISTRATION Dates: November 9th-13th Seniors are given priority to register for classes on Monday November 9 th. Meet with your Academic Advisor to confirm your schedule for the Spring semester. Make sure you have taken care of any necessary holds prior to your registration date.

5 APPLYING TO GRADUATE Applications are available from: Your advisor Your department The Registrar’s Office Online – http://www.vanguard.ed u/registrar/registrar- forms/http://www.vanguard.ed u/registrar/registrar- forms/ There’s one in your hand right now.

6 APPLYING TO GRADUATE Turn in your Application for Graduation to your department prior to December 1 st.

8 FILLING OUT THE APPLICATION Top Section: ID number Name as you want it to appear on your diploma Campus mailbox Phone number Email address Major Minor (if applicable) Expected term of graduation

9 FILLING OUT THE APPLICATION Middle Section Only list courses in progress or work to be completed by graduation Off Campus units should only be those that we have not received transcripts for and have not been applied to your program. Signature and Date

10 GRAD CHECK The Registrar’s Office will review your application once Fall grades have been recorded be sure all transcripts are on file be sure all substitution/waiver forms are on file be sure to submit minor petition(s) to the department of your minor APPROVED: You will receive an “On Target” email in mid-January NOT APPROVED: You will receive a “Missing” email in mid-January. If you are missing something, take care of it as soon as possible.

11 OFFICE OF ACCOUNTING OPERATIONS Take care of any and all payments or financial issues If you receive correspondence from the OAO re: balance or other financial issues respond as soon as possible. Make sure Perkins Exit Interview is completed (if applicable). Account balances must be paid in full by April 1 st Failing to take care of financial issues will prevent you from participating in commencement, receiving transcripts and your diploma.

15 AT GRAD FEST: Check Registrar’s Commencement list for spelling of your name and Honor’s stars (if applicable). 3.900 Summa Cum Laude 3.700 Magna Cum Laude 3.500 Cum Laude *Honors for the program are based on cumulative GPA as of the end of Fall 2015 semester
