2 www.urbanvision.org.uk +44 (0) 161 779 4800 Current Situation. Subways are perceived as uninviting by the public which was confirmed by the students questionnaire; main areas of concern were: - Graffiti Litter Odour Knife Crime Drug Selling Rape

3 www.urbanvision.org.uk +44 (0) 161 779 4800 A feasibility study was undertaken that included: - Review of lighting. Appearance of subway. Surfacing. Improvement to the subway entrance. Consultation with community groups School Project Community Committee Local Councillors

4 www.urbanvision.org.uk +44 (0) 161 779 4800 Potential solutions in consultation with community groups: - Enhanced lighting Enhanced appearance Cleanliness Improve entrance CCTV within subways Improved ‘subway experience’ Options not considered viable: - Revolving advertising boards Stage and projector
