August 2012 Updates: Changing seasons and health issues
2
The winter scenes have been slowly making place for spring...
3
Everything is beginning to bloom!

Some random streets around our neighbourhood, with the Blue Mountains as the backdrop

The girls worked hard on “get well soon” cards and sent a teddy to their Grandpa Emanuel, who has suddenly required a bypass heart surgery.

For over two weeks we were all plagued with very unpleasant maladies: Hahgoot started off with a high fever on a Thursday at school but didn’t get any medication till late in the afternoon as she didn’t tell her teacher she felt unwell. She was put on antibiotics for two rounds as her tonsils got inflamed quickly. Barak joined the club on Friday with a nasty flu and had a long weekend at home. Dr Alma took good care of him while I tried to sort Hahgoot out.

Dr Alma checked her patient and declared he needs lots of rest and and good quality pretend tea. On Saturday night Alma had her turn, with very high fevers and a cough. As it was getting worse, we called in a doctor to the house on Sunday as all the regular clinics are closed (it’s a free service for children). She was also put on antibiotics for a week. I tired my best to keep healthy while tending to the plagued family members, and used my “vampire potion” (Barak calls it so because it has raw garlic inside among other things, and when I added vitamin C powder it spouted bubbles so looked like a witches’ potion for real!)

Alma was getting better but then got a very runny nose followed by red spots from head to toe! The doctor (and I) suspected it was a mild case of measles. That was bad luck as we just got a place in daycare but she couldn’t even visit because she was contagious. Now that everyone was getting better, I of course got Barak’s flu, but much worse... I spent 4 days with fevers, mainly in bed. Barak had to take over, worked from home and learned to cook while babysitting...

Alma enjoyed doing workbooks with stickers about shapes like her big sister, while waiting for the doctor The girls helped with the shopping, which was good as I was very exhausted Alma watched Hahgoot intently as she ate sushiSo many doctor’s visits sparked new games..
10
Alma became a vet and treated the sick kitty

After two weeks the girls were back to normal, eating well, enjoying wrestling in the afternoon and the outdoors. I, on the other hand, had a hard time getting back to normal, and suffered from shortness of breath and chest pain, but the doctor might have been right, as it all eventually cleared by itself.
