What Are “County Committees” ? The term “County Committee” is a political party term – not a description of a governing body

What Are “County Committees” ? By Statute – state law gives political parties unique authority to identify and support political candidates

Municipal Election Districts Town is divided into Districts Each district has about 500 voters Boundaries are usually streets Each district is numbered Large municipalities may also group “Districts” into larger “Wards” Other states may use the term “precincts”

Who Serves on “the county committee” ? In NJ, each District is represented by two Republicans and two Democrats Within each political party, each District is represented by one man and one woman

Who Serves on “the county committee” ? The two representatives of each District, together with the representatives of all other districts in their town, make up the Municipal Republican Committee or Municipal Democrat Committee

Confusion “County committee persons” can work at different levels. As a result, the terminology sometimes becomes confusing.
