5 TESLA and X-ray Free Electron Laser (Project TESLA) Scientific Programme: General objectives of the project are: participation in the development of the project of linear collider TESLA, construction of X-ray free electron laser (XFEL), and construction and operation of an VUV/X-ray free electron laser at the TESLA Test Facility (TTF FEL) at DESY. Expected main results: Construction of diagnostic system for short electron bunches using far infrared coherent radiation from an undulator; Construction of photon beam diagnostic unit and characterization of X-ray radiation from X-ray FEL at TTF FEL; Conceptual design of pump-probe FEL facility based on two-color FEL amplifier; Design and manufacturing of undulators and wigglers for PETRA and TESLA; Theoretical work on FEL and beam physics; Development of diagnostics of cryogenic systems and semiconductor cryodetectors. 1994 – 2003 – experts from LPP Science 2004 – experts from LPP, LHE and LNP Free-Electron Laser at the TESLA Test Facility Theme 02-0-1057-2004/2006 – LPP, LHE, LNP
