Organ Donation Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center But then in 1998 the “LAW” changed Federal Government entered the picture to promote organ donation nationally and restricted conversations regarding organ donation to an OPO representative or “designated requestor”

Organ Donation Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center Working with ROBI - several of the trauma surgeons became designated requestors Trained by ROBI staff during a dedicated educational activity Retooled our process AIMMC remained near the top of list for ROBI/GOH hospitals

Organ Donation Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center Then on January 1st 2006 Illinois becomes 43rd state to pass first person consent “LAW” not as straight forward approaching a family without knowing if they are in the registry Numerous meetings, collaborations and review of internal guidelines to account for this new change.
