3 Glaciers start as snow falling on freezing land. The snow builds up in thick layers, especially in dips or valley, because it is too cold to melt. Snow in the bottom layers is squeezed so hard that it changes into solid ice. HOW GLACIERS FORM

4 The rocks stuck to the bottom of a glacier can make it act like a giant scouring pads. The gradually rub away the ground underneath the glacier, gouging out a U- shaped valley. GIANT SCOURING PADS
