What we have learnt from AFA It is possible for learners with SEN to make better than average progress The value of establishing improved communication and relationships with parents has impacted positively on pupil progress Where structured conversations are implemented effectively, partnership relationships between home and school have improved significantly Rigorous tracking of progress is helping schools to identify underperforming pupils The effectiveness of interventions needs to be rigorously evaluated AFA approaches are most effective where there is clear leadership from the top, but AFA has developed leadership at all levels The importance of quality first teaching All three strands of AFA impact on motivation, self esteem, confidence and the progress of pupils

Future SEN services will provide support for : Individual children and families Individual schools Achievement for All networks Assessment and Placement Commissioning specialist placements
