What is Networking? Networking is the process of developing and maintaining quality relationships that enrich your life and empower you to achieve your goals. Networking is a dynamic process that links people in to mutually beneficial relationships.

Reasons to Network Develop and nurture mutually beneficial relationships. Gain information to help you move forward professionally. Get referrals that could lead to other jobs or help your development. Build a supportive UCSF community.

Why are some people turned off by networking? Turned off by the idea of networkers as pushy self-promoters. Too busy to make the time Think of themselves as introverts, and therefore bad networkers.

Six Things Effective Networkers Always Do: 1.Be yourself 2.Find common ground 3.Show respect for people’s time 4.Offer to help others 5.Show appreciation
