UNIT 2 FUTURE EVENTS “Present Continuous as Future Arrangements” L.E.L.I. Karim Juárez Cortés

USE 1 It is used to talk about actions at the moment of speaking. USE 2 It is used to talk about fixed future arrangements. Examples: I am using the computer in this moment. The doctor is treating a patient right now. I’m reading a book about history. Examples: I am seeing Tomas tonight. My father is flying to Chiapas tomorrow. On Monday I am working in my new project. USO 1: Se utiliza para hablar de acciones en el momento. USO 2: Se utiliza para hablar de acuerdos en el futuro.

Present Continuous can express future arrangements. Examples: I’m going to Mexico city next Friday. She’s seeing the doctor on Wednesday. We're leaving next Friday. The next Friday 15 th My father is coming back from England. FORM We use the form of the verb TO BE + verb in ING AM/IS/ARE + Verb in -ING - Affirmative: Roberto is leaving tomorrow. Negative: Roberto isn’t leaving tomorrow. Interrogative: Is Roberto leaving tomorrow ? Interrogative with WH question: When Is Roberto leaving ?

Time Expressions: We use future time expressions with present continuous as future arrangements like: Tomorrow Next Friday, next Monday, etc Next day Next week …. Etc On Monday, on Friday … etc The next Monday in the morning Roberto is practicing in the marching band. The next Tuesday in the afternoon Roberto is going to the library to find information about his project.
