Subject-Verb Agreement Singular subject requires a singular verb – Ex: She was running late this morning. Plural subject requires a plural verb – Ex: They were running late this morning. These rules go for collective nouns (ex: pack, pride, herd) too.

Subject-Verb Agreement What if the subject and verb are separated? – Ex: The audience of rowdy teenagers yells loudly when the star comes out. Subject: audience (singular) Verb: yells (singular)

Practice If the sentence is incorrect, write the corrected version in your journal.
