Characterized by mucocutaneous bleeding and a low, often very low platelet count with otherwise normal peripheral blood cells and smears.

Usually present:
Ecchymoses and petechia.
Thrombocytopenia
May be present:
Mucocutaneous bleeding (Oral/Nasal mucosa, gastrointestinal, or heavy menstrual bleeding)
Rarely present:
CNS hemorrhages may occur.
Petechial rashes in the lower extremities (chief complaint)
Platelet Count of 29 x 109/L (N.V. = x 109/L)
1 episode of epistaxis which resolved with local pressure.
Normal menstrual flow (4-5 days, 3-5 pads)
None present
