2.  Cockayne syndrome happens because of mutation to the CSB gene or the CSA gene.  CSB and CSA genes are proteins associated with DNA/RNA repair.  DNA can be damaged by ultraviolet rays, toxic chemicals, radiation, and unstable molecules (free radicals.)  CSA and the CSB gene could fix these problems before they get worse but cockayne syndrome makes these repair genes unable and then to many cell problems come about and they die off.
