3 John Evans was the second governor of the statehood people in 1862-1863. The first Colorado boom was in the 1870s. The men in the territory statehood time wore knickers. The ladies wore dresses. Their state song was ‘‘Where the Columbines Grow.” The song was written on May 8, 1915, by a man named A.J. Fynn. Their state insect was a beautiful butterfly elected on April 17,1996.

4 Back then their state animal was the big horn sheep that is very strong and a very cool animal. this animal was elected on May 1, 1961. The Statehood people ate food like beans, eggs, sausages, and they milked cows for milk. They grow vegetables in their fields. They also were miners, sellers, farmers, and they had health care.

6 Kit Carson went back to Missouri because he wanted to visit his family. He was born on Christmas Eve. When he was only nine years old his father died. He was at Bent’s Fort. Kit Carson was in a war in New Mexico. Kit Carson lead people from New Mexico to California.

7 They traveled in wagons to get around instead of walking. Sometimes they sat under trees for shelter. They went to Bent’s Fort. They went back to Missouri in 1842. His family missed him. Kit Carson was a hero.

8 They trailed by horses and by wagons. They ate Bison meat and fish. They used the eye of the Bison for a ball. They used the fur for clothing and mats. They played with sticks and ANCIENT PEOPLE TRANSPORTATIOn

9 horse shoe games. They bathed in the water dirty or clean. They dried themselves with animal hides.

10 Native Americans had holes on top of their Tipis so smoke would come out when a fire was lit. Native Americans used wolf skin to hunt down buffalo and eat it. Native Americans used to have a little door to go in. The man could barely fit in the door..

11 Native American children didn’t wear clothing until they were 10 years old. Native Americans had a dance called the bear dance.

12 They had to buy food and the flour cost five dollars. Coffee cosr $10 per pound. The first school in Colorado looked like a house underground.

13 The horses pulled wagons full of coal. The pioneers used wagons to go and pick coal up and to take wagons full of gold. In 1838 they set off to Oregon to get gold.
