1.Oregon included the present day area of Oregon, Washington, Idaho and parts of Wyoming, Montana and Canada. 2.Russia, Great Britain, Spain and the US claimed Oregon. 3.Americans wanted control Oregon because they wanted to gain access to the Pacific. 4.The US and Great Britain agreed to joint occupation of Oregon in 1818.

5. Mountain men were fur traders who travelled through Oregon. 6. Mountain Men made a living trading furs. 7. The annual rendezvous was the highlight of the year for the Mountain Men. 8. After the beavers were killed off, Mountain men became guides for settlers moving to Oregon Country. 9. The first large-scale migration to Oregon began in the early 1840’s.

10. The path to Oregon Country was called the Oregon Trail. 11. The wagons that carried goods were called “prairie schooners” 12. Native Americans helped by serving as guides or trading necessary goods. 13. Most pioneers settled in the Willamette Valley, south of the Columbia River. 14.
