What is the FCAT? The Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) is a test given to all Florida students as part of Florida’s overall plan to increase student achievement, by implementing higher standards for public school students.

Why do students take the FCAT? It is given to measure students’ achievement on the New Generation Sunshine State Standards and to monitor the student’s ability to think critically and apply these skills.

Who takes the FCAT? All public school students in Grades 3 through 11 are required to take the FCAT. What is on the FCAT Math test? The FCAT math test consists of multiple choice questions solving problems in the areas of number sense, measurement, geometry, algebra, and data analysis.

What is considered the passing score for the Grade 3 FCAT? Students in grade 3 must score a level 2 or higher on the FCAT Reading subtest in order to be promoted. There are also alternative assessments and good cause exemptions that apply to grade 3 students.
