5. More than “Mere Men”  I Corinthians 3:1-3 –  (NKJ) “are you not carnal and behaving like mere men”  (KJ) “are you not carnal and walk as men”  (ESV) “are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way”  (NIV) “… are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere men”

6. More than “Mere Men”  Mere –  being nothing more nor better than (He is still a mere child.)  being nothing more than something specified

10. Focused on Christ  Hebrews 12:1-2 –  “let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith”

11. Focused on Christ  Ephesians 4:17-24 –  “But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man”

12. Focused on Christ  Ephesians 4:25-32 –  (25) Put Away Lying & Speak Truth  (26-27) Be Angry & Do Not Sin  (28) Steal No Longer & Work  (29-30) No Corrupt Word, but Good for Edification  (31-32) Put Away Malice & Put on Love

13. Focused on Christ  Colossians 3:8-17 –  “since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created Him.”

21. Focused on Heaven  Colossians 3:1-2 –  “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.”

22. Focused on Heaven  Philippians 3:13-14, 20 –  “reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the upward call of God in Christ Jesus”  (20)“For our citizenship is in heaven”

23. Conclusion  God does not want us to be like “Mere Men”.  We must change a worldly focus and be… Focused on Christ Focused on God’s Will Focused on Heaven

24. Conclusion  I Kings 2:1-3 –  “… prove yourself a man. And keep the charge of the Lord your God: to walk in His ways, to keep His statues, His commandments, His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn”

25. God’s Plan of Salvation  Hear the Word of God (Mark 16:15)  Believe in Jesus (Mark 16:16)  Repent of Sins (II Peter 3:9)  Confess Faith in Christ (Matthew 10:32)  Be Baptized in Water (Acts 2:38)  Remain Faithful & Grow(Revelations 2:10)  If err, repent and pray to God (I John 1:9)

26. Lord’s Supper  Partaking of the Bread:  I Corinthians 11:24 –  “and when He has given thanks, He broke it and said, ‘Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

27. Lord’s Supper  Partaking of the Fruit of the Vine:  I Corinthians 11:26 –  “In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”
