Aim of the DofE Expedition Section To inspire young people to develop initiative and a sense of adventure and discovery, by planning, training for and completing an adventurous journey as part of a team. Benefits sharing responsibility, teamwork, leadership, self-reliance, overcome challenges, decision-making, manage risk, learn new skills. What do you want to get out of it? Fun!

Your own physical effort Unaccompanied and self-sufficient. In a team of between 4 and 7 people for walking expeditions. Training and practice expeditions. Camp Properly equipped Cook and eat a substantial meal each day Aim and presentation DofE Expedition - 20 conditions

Your expedition programme is a progression Attendance at each section is compulsory. Attendance isn’t enough. You need to successfully complete each section.

Waterproofs Both a waterproof jacket AND trousers are essential They MUST be waterproof! Taped seams – to stop water leaking through Jackets MUST have a hood

Rucksacks Correct size 60 – 65 litres COMFORTABLE

Mobile Phones Yes – for your safety! Fully charged but switched off – only for emergencies In suitable waterproof bag – don’t rely on jacket pockets!
