Graduation Requirements for ELs District Requirements: same Career Ready & College Prepared College Entrance (UC/CSU) “a-g” Core Courses & Electives State of California Requirements: same California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE)

UC/CSU Entrance Requirements “A – G” Requirements The University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU) require completion of "A - G" subject courses for admission. A.History/Government 2 Years B.English 9 – 12 4 Years C Mathematics 3 Years (4 Years Recommended) D Science 2 Years (3 Years Recommended) EWorld (Foreign) Language 2 Years (of the same language) (3 Years Recommended) F Visual and Performing Arts 1 Year (year-long course) G College Preparatory Elective 1 Year

Pathways Refer to EL Placement & Pathways Handout Organized by Initial Program Placement: ESL 1-2: Beginners (District graduation Credit – English) ESL 3-4: Early Intermediates (ESL 3-4) (District Graduation Credit – English) ESL 5-6: Intermediates (District Graduation & College Prep. “a-g” Credit-English) Note: ELs at higher language proficiency levels enroll in grade-level English language arts and other content courses with ELL certified teachers
