3 HOMEWORK Chapter 5 Manual Define skidding How to handle skidding SHOULD BE at least one paragraph not 2 sentences!!!

4 As you start driving, get a feel for a the road. A vehicle will skid if a motorist ◦accelerates too quickly ◦Turns too fast ◦Brakes improperly  Keep a foot on the brake but do not pump!  Hitting the brakes too hard could cause the wheels to lock

5 When you start to skid… What causes skidding? If the vehicle starts to slide, take foot off the gas pedal. ◦Turn into the direction that you are skidding. DO NOT OVERSTEER ◦Avoid using the brakes and always look in the direction to want to go ◦You will “feel” when the car is back under control and then straighten the wheels out.
