1. ECE 4710: Exam#1 1 Exam 1 Format  Exam Material  Lectures 1-14  Homeworks 1-5  15 True/False Questions @ 2 pts/each  Total = 30 pts  1 question from each lecture  Example: T or F PCM signal BW’s are approximately the same as the analog input signal they represent.

2. ECE 4710: Exam#1 2 Exam 1 Format  5-6 Short Answer Questions @ 3-5 pts/each  Total = 25 pts  Example: List 4 important properties necessary for understanding the advantages and disadvantages of various digital line codes.  3 Short Numerical Problems @ 12-16 pts/each  Total = 40-45 pts  Most will be similar to homework problems  May combine multiple concepts in one problem  60 minutes allotted for exam

3. ECE 4710: Exam#1 3 Formula Sheet  Formula sheet allowed for exam  Must meet following criteria:  8.5 x 11” sheet, one side only  Name/Student ID @ top of sheet  Pencil only, no pen or computer printout  Only numerical formulas are allowed as represented by notes or textbook »No written descriptions »No graphs »No descriptive abreviations/subscripts not consistent with notes/textbook

4. ECE 4710: Exam#1 4 Formula Sheet  Bring to exam  I will review each sheet to make sure it is consistent with guidelines  Sheet will be handed back to student soon after start of the exam  Questions??
