2 2 Opening remarks  National Disability Survey was conducted as a follow-up to the 2006 Census of Population using responses to a self-completed census disability question (Q15) to select sample  First results will be published on 30 June based on around 15,000 private household returns and 650 institution returns

20 20 Sport and exercise module  In 2006 CSO did labour force survey module on participation in sport and physical exercise (15+) In the last 12 months did you participate in any physical activities for exercise, recreation or sport (e.g. walking, swimming, playing basketball or golf)? How would you describe your health in general? -> Excellent, Very good, Good, Fair, Poor

21 21 Sport and exercise contd.  40,000 persons aged 15 and over in sample file  63% of these active in the last 12 months  Could do some analyses by health status, disability status, levels of activity, age group, sport played etc.  Dataset was linked to labour force interview so some of the LFS variables are attached (educational attainment, employment status etc.)

32 32 Washington Group  Do you have difficulty seeing, even if wearing glasses?  Do you have difficulty hearing, even if using a hearing aid?  Do you have difficulty walking or climbing steps?  Do you have difficulty remembering or concentrating?  Do you have difficulty (with self-care such as) washing all over or dressing?  Using your usual (customary) language, do you have difficulty communicating, for example understanding or being understood?
